How to Rate a Player

QUESTION # 1. IS THE PLAYER SAFE?

The player should chronograph regularly, wear his goggles and use his plug where he is supposed to.

QUESTION # 2. DOES THE PLAYER HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE?

The player should be there to have fun and not take the fun out of someone else's day. The player should not "strut" around camp and try to "scare" other players or intimidate them.

QUESTION # 3. IS THE PLAYER FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL TO OTHER PLAYERS?

The player should be willing to sit out a game and help another player, if the player can help. The player should treat all other players with respect.

QUESTION # 4. DOES THE PLAYER PLAY STOCK, PUMP AND SEMI (OR WOULD THEY IF THE OPPORTUNITY AROSE)?

The player in question may not have the opportunity to play all three, but would they if they were given the opportunity? Good players realize that there are things to be learned from each of the levels.

QUESTION # 5. IS THE PLAYER A SPORTSMAN?

The player should abide by the spirit of the rules, as well as the letter of the rules. This is to say that even though there may be no rules against shooting other players at close range, the player will avoid doing this. Sportsmanship is very important to paintball.

QUESTION # 6. IS THE PLAYER A TEAM PLAYER?

Does the player back up team mates, or do they run off in pursuit of their own glory? The player in question should be working for the TEAM'S objective, not their own.

QUESTION # 7. IS THE PLAYER AGAINST "NEWBIE BASHING"?

Many players refuse to play against newbies. It's all right to play WITH them, but some players are even reluctant to do that. Playing against inexperienced players isn't fun to a good quality player.

QUESTION # 8. DOES THE PLAYER LISTEN TO (AND NOT ARGUE WITH) THE FIELD STAFF?

I know you've seen those who do. Constantly bickering, arguing and questioning the field staff's calls.

QUESTION # 9. DOES THE PLAYER USE SKILL, RATHER THAN RELYING ON TECHNOLOGY?

Technology isn't a bad thing, unless you allow the technology to make up for extra effort on your part.

QUESTION # 10. DOES THE PLAYER TRY TO PROMOTE PAINTBALL IN A POSITIVE MANNER?

We are all ambassadors of this sport.

SCORING:

1 point for every "yes" answer. If your answer to Question # 1 was "no" the total score is zero.

THE PLAYER'S SCORE:

0-1, if the player is not safe, If the only point the player got was for safety, then they're okay to play! 2-4, Perhaps you just need some more playing time? 5-7, congratulations, you're in the majority. 8-10, whoa! I hope you're on MY team!
